Shona Great is a Registered Nurse and cosmetic injector with more than 20 years of experience in cosmetic aesthetics. She currently practises at Northern Skin Studio in Townsville.
My Approach
I have seen a lot change in this industry over the years. Techniques change, trends change, and I think our perception of what looks normal can change too.
For me, ageing well isn’t about trying to erase every sign of ageing. Faces move. They change. They age. My approach is considered, conservative and individual, with time taken to listen to what is actually concerning you and to be realistic about what may or may not be appropriate.
Sometimes my advice may be to treat. Sometimes it may be to wait, do less, or consider another option altogether.
Professional Background
I have been a Registered Nurse since 1996, and before moving into cosmetic aesthetics, I worked in operating theatres as a scrub nurse across both general and plastic surgery.
That surgical background gave me another layer of clinical experience before I began working in aesthetics, where I have now spent more than 20 years.
Alongside my clinical work, I have previously worked as a clinical trainer and educator, teaching and mentoring healthcare professionals in facial assessment, consultation and treatment planning.
After all these years, I still believe there is always more to learn, particularly in an industry that continues to change.
A Little More About Me
Outside of cosmetic nursing, I am also a qualified meditation teacher and yoga teacher.
These are completely separate parts of my professional life, but meditation has undoubtedly influenced the way I work. I value taking time, listening properly and creating a calm environment where you don’t feel rushed into making a decision.
For me, the person sitting in front of me will always be more important than a trend.
